PERSONAL BIO

Raised in the greater Flint area of Michigan, Jacob was brought up in a home that both drugs and alcohol were present. By the grace of God, Jacob was provided an opportunity to go to Trinity Baptist Church in Flushing, Michigan, and attend Genesee Christian School till his freshman year. Jacob then transferred into and later graduated from Flint Central High School. Immediately following graduation in 2005, Jacob joined the United States Marine Corps. While in the Marines, Jacob married his high school sweetheart Katie on May 27, 2006. Once his four years of active military service were completed, Jacob pursued opening his own business in Morehead City, North Carolina in 2009.

Following two years of operating his own business, Jacob and Katie’s marriage was experiencing difficultly. The decision was made in 2011 to close the business and locate a local church to attend. The church they began attending was Community Baptist Church in Newport, North Carolina. In January 2012, Jacob received Christ as his Savior during a week of revival meetings. Shortly thereafter, Jacob followed the Lord in believer’s baptism.

After surrendering to God’s call on his life, Jacob completed all the Bible classes in his local church Bible college, which ultimately led him to complete his bachelor’s degree at Louisiana Baptist University in 2016. In 2019, Jacob completed his graduate studies at West Coast Baptist College with a Master’s in Bible.

Jacob has served for six years in pastoral ministry serving in areas such as prison ministry, children’s ministry, youth ministry, and adult Bible classes. While Jacob has always had a passion for the gospel and reaching people for Christ, recently God began to direct Jacob toward full-time evangelism. It is a great joy for Jacob to serve the Lord, and it is with excitement that he desires to serve Christ and His church in whatever capacity available.

CALL TO PREACH

After receiving Christ as his Savior, Jacob began to read his Bible daily, and one day, Jacob came across Romans 10:14. It says, “How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?” At that point, the Holy Spirit convicted him that he needed to give his life to Christ in full-time Christian service. Once he communicated to his Pastor his calling, he began attending East Coast Bible College, which was a ministry of that local church and taught by the Associate Pastor of the Church. After completing several classes, God opened a door to begin ministering in the youth ministry, jail ministry, and prison ministry. During that time, God confirmed his calling through an opportunity to preach a Wednesday night service. God has continued to bless, and He has provided for him each step of the way. Serving God and His people has been Jacob’s desire since the moment he was called, and it is exciting to see where God will provide an opportunity to serve Him and His Church.

FAMILY BIO

Jacob and Katie Smith were married on May 27, 2006. After both Jacob and Katie received Christ as their Savior in 2012, they have strived to have their marriage and home be pleasing and honoring to the Lord. The Smiths have four children: Kailyn (9), Jordan (8), Benjamin (4), and Avery (2). As a family, they desire to evangelize the lost, edify believers through the preaching and teaching of the Word of God, and encourage pastors and their families.

Katie’s Story: Born and raised in Flint, Michigan, Katie graduated from Flint Southwestern Academy in 2005. Katie was brought up in a wonderful home albeit it was without regular church attendance. Once she met Jacob, she was welcomed into Jacobs home church at the time where many seeds were planted in her life. After marrying Jacob in 2006, she moved with him to North Carolina where she invested in her education and became a nurse in 2008. With their first child on the way, Katie started attending church with Jacob in late 2011. In early 2012, she accepted Christ as her Savior after Jacob led her through the Romans road right there in their home.

Once Jacob received the called to preach, Katie has always followed her husband’s leading, but now she knew her calling. It was to follow him wherever the Lord led him. Katie enjoys ministry life and being a help to her husband. She has assisted him at every step along the way. Katie enjoys studying her Bible, helping others study God’s Word, and speaking to ladies when privileged to do so. Serving in children’s ministries is an extra treat. She loves to teach to younger children and has a special way of making God’s word fun and intriguing to kids.

Outside of ministry life, Katie keeps the family of six and home life organized and running like a well-oiled machine. She loves to exercise at the local gym, cook, shop for anything, and drink coffee as her hobbies. Katie does an excellent job in the home and instilling the Family’s verse into her children: Matthew 22:37 - "Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind."

Kailyn: Kailyn loves mac and cheese, and burgers(only ketchup though). She loves to be creative with arts, crafts, and music just to name a few. She has a wonderfully quiet and meek spirit, so time to relax quietly is very helpful for her.

Jordan: Jordan loves to eat almost anything especially BBQ. He loves to go and do. He is a passionate young man that has the heart to help and serve. He loves sports, board games, and any form of competition. He enjoys making friends, so be ready to play.

Benji: Benji is one of a kind. He is silly and has a huge imagination. He enjoys playdoh and action figures. He keeps it exciting all the time, but he loves to help where he can. His food choices change regularly, but he will never turn down a piece of fruit or chocolate. He loves to play with others and be around people.

Avery: Avery has few favorites when it comes to food, but a banana is always welcome. She enjoys playing alone and spending time with her brothers and sister in the sunshine. She doesn’t have a huge social drive, but she loves momma. You can usually find her playing with a baby doll or playing quietly with her little people playsets.
