Doctrinal Statement

BIBLIOLOGY

The Bible consists of 66 books including the 39 Old Testament books and 27 New Testament books, which make up the entire canon of scripture. Through the plenary verbal inspiration of the Bible, God used roughly 40 men over 1500 years to pen the scriptures, and Jesus Christ authenticated the scriptures. The Bible is the written word of God, which is illuminated to man through a special revelation from the Holy Spirit. The Bible is infallible and preserved with sole authority over man. The preservation of scripture has taken place as God has promised, and for English-speaking people, the King James Version is the most accurate translation as pertains to the Masoretic and Received Texts.

CHRISTOLOGY

Jesus Christ is the Son of God and the second person of the Trinity. Jesus is the Creator, who would later be born of a virgin to become God in the flesh. Jesus was both fully God and fully man. He is Prophet, Priest, and King. While on earth, Jesus Christ lived a sinless life. Jesus Christ’s life and ministry on earth was exemplary, but it all ended with His sacrificial substitutionary death on the cross paying the penalty of sin for all mankind. Three days later, Christ resurrected from the dead and ascended into Heaven, and He is now at the right hand of the Father interceding for the believer.

The Holy Spirit was active in creation and is still actively involved with mankind today. The Holy Spirit is active in the lives of people through the conviction of sin, regeneration of the believer, indwelling of the believer, sanctification of the believer, sealing of the believer, and illumination of the scriptures. The Holy Spirit is involved with the dispersing of spiritual gift (I Cor 12:7-11). Lastly, the Holy Spirit can be blasphemed and grieved.

ANTHROPOLOGY

Man (male and female) was created in God’s own image in a state of unconfirmed holiness. Man was created in a trichotomy having a body, soul, and spirit. God instituted marriage for one man and one woman. Man being born with a freewill volitionally chose to sin, which resulted in the fall of man. From the fall of man, all are born into sin in need of a Saviour. As a result of sin, man spiritually died, which brought forth an eventual physical death. Without salvation, man will face a second eternal death.

Created in God’s Image: Genesis 2:16-17

Unconfirmed Holiness: Genesis 2:16-17

Trichotomy: I Thessalonians 5:23, Hebrews 4:12

Marriage: Genesis 1:27-28, Genesis 2:24

Freewill: Genesis 2:16-17

Fall of Man: Genesis 3:6-7

Spiritual Death: Ephesians 2:1

Physical Death: Genesis 2:16-17, Hebrew 9:27

Eternal Death (2nd Death): Revelation 20:14, 21:8

HAMARTIOLOGY

Sin is both missing the mark and failing to meet God’s divine standard. While Lucifer brought sin in the universe, Adam brought sin to mankind. Sin has affects on the believer, and some of the affects are loss of fellowship, joy, peace, and chastisement. Sin affected the plant kingdom, animal kingdom, and the human race. As a result of sin, the penalty of sin is physical death, spiritual death, and eternal death.

Sin: Romans 3:23

Sin into the Universe: Ezekiel 28:11-19, Isaiah 14:12-15

Sin into the World: Romans 5:12, I Timothy 2:14

Effects of Sin: Psalms 51:12, Romans 4:6-7, Hebrews 12:3-6, I John 1:6

SOTERIOLOGY

Salvation is a necessity because of the fall of man into sin. Salvation is by grace alone through faith alone, and God provided the redemptive plan of salvation through His Son, Jesus Christ. Salvation is not a mere transaction, but Salvation consists of repentance and faith. At the moment of salvation, man is regenerated, justified, adopted, indwelled, and sanctified. The salvation of the believer is assured and eternally secure leading to an eventual eternity with God.

ECCLESIOLOGY

The church is a New Testament institution that is made up of people that are both saved and baptized. The Church is local, and the church is not Israel nor does it take the place of Israel. The ordinances that are to be kept by the church are the Lord’s Table and baptism. The people who hold the offices of pastor and deacon must meet the qualifications set forth in the Scriptures, but Christ is ultimately the Head of the church. The church as a body is brought together in unity for the purposes of worship, edification of the believer, and evangelization of the lost. The church will one day be raptured to be with the Lord prior to the tribulation, which will be covered more fully in eschatology statement.

One third of the other angels sided with Satan, and they are known as demons. The fallen angels as noted in scripture will be cast into the lake of fire permanently along with Satan. The angels that did not fall have an earthly ministry that aids the believer in many ways.
